— Susan Kare, UI Graphic Designer
Before I went back to school for my MFA in Design Research, I spent almost six years working in the anime industry as a packaging and print designer. Within this portfolio you will find selected works representing my personal favorites from the 40+ titles I had the privilege of working on during that time, as well as selected freelance work, and personal design projects.
In hindsight, it makes perfect sense that I would eventually become a Design Researcher. Even within this body of work, I was already working in a cross-disciplinary team, doing research, thinking about end users, and pushing the boundaries of how I might about design unique, playful interactions with physical objects—all long before I knew that this way of working even had a name.
